MEMBERSHIPS OPEN for 2014

January 14, 2014 8:18 pm

The Lejeune Guild is a new, chartered guild of the Catholic Medical Association.  We founding members have spent the last year in prayer and in carefully organizing this new guild for the Fort Wayne area with the help of Bishop Kevin Rhoades.

In 2013 we started with about a dozen founding members.  At this time we are opening yearly membership to all interested persons. This is a physician led organization both on the national and local level, and so we invite all Catholic physicians to join.   In addition, we are delighted to extend membership to medical students, nurses, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, allied health professionals, dentists, podiatrists chiropractors, and members of the clergy and religious life.   ANYONE who has interest in our group and wishes to join to support us and to learn with us, is also welcome to join regardless of occupation or religious affiliation.

Our main goals are to support each other along the journey of faith, and to reach out to our community to spread the love of Christ and the beauty of His Church.

Membership in the Lejeune Guild affords you an opportunity to fellowship with like-minded colleagues, receive the spiritual support necessary to help you navigate the ethical challenges which confront us, and to evangelize our culture.  We’ve also been recommended by Bishop Rhoades to study and to learn together to increase our knowledge of the faith.

2014 will be a great year and we look forward to sharing it with you and the community.  Some of the highlights of 2014 will be:

  • Monthly Fellowship Meetings at the Cathedral Chapel and Hall (third Saturday each month)
  • Group participation in the local March for Life on January 18
  • 2-3 Holy Hours with Eucharistic Adoration, spaced out through the year
  • Participation in Fortnight for Freedom
  • Summer Picnic for members and families
  • Second Annual White Mass on October 8, 2014 at Cathedral
  • Interactions with Catholic medical students/residents

There can be many other events as well, dependent upon YOU, our new members!

First of all, we would like to ask all of you to seriously consider joining the CMA at the NATIONAL level.   If you do, we will immediately add you to the membership roll of the local guild for no additional cost.  You will receive benefits for joining the CMA such as important alerts, subscription to the Linacre Quarterly bioethics journal, and national advocacy on issues important to Catholic healthcare professionals.    You can download the application HERE.   As you can see, the price varies based on the profession.  HERE is a fuller list of the benefits.

If you do not wish to join the national organization, you can just join the Lejeune Guild for 10% of what the national price would have been.  Physician price for local membership per year would be about $30, other doctoral degrees would be $20, nurses and other healthcare workers would be about $12.50.  Students, clergy, our non-healthcare friends, are also listed on the national membership form.  If you aren’t sure where you fit in, just contact us.  We have a contact link at the top for questions.  If there is a financial hardship, please just drop us an email and we can see what we can do.

If you decide to join, just click our LOCAL FORM and fill it out online.  Indicate on it if you are applying to the national CMA.  Be sure to fill out the national form, too, if you are joining national.  If you are joining the local guild only, you can send a check with your local form, or you can go on paypal using the DONATE link and just indicate in the comments area that it is for membership and that the paperwork is in the mail.  Again, the local price is 10% of what the national price would be, as listed on THIS page.

Our next event is the Fellowship Meeting on January 18.  Following that is the local March for Life in which we will march as a group with a banner.  Hope to see you there, snow or shine!
